ABSTRACT:
We first review the (optimal) estimation theory and its application in
quantum measurement. Several estimation methods are discussed, such as
maximal likelihood method, optimal estimation, and etc. We focus on
phase estimation in the Mach-Zedner interferometer. We discuss various
quantum entangled states that can achieve the so-called Heisenberg
limit in the sense of local sensitivity. As a contrast, the global
sensitivity of phase estimation is defined. Last some further problems
related with optimal estimation are outline briefly.
